We have had several snowstorms (Marcus, Neptune, Octavia, Pandora) over the last few weeks, adding to the total ground cover of snow, which currently stands at 6½ FEET.
And to top things off, yesterday I woke up to a broken water main, my street shut down, and later, the gas main ruptured. So I spent until 6 pm with no water, and until 8 pm with no gas for cooking/heat/hot water. And the gas heat only stayed on for 2 hours until it conked out again.
I need a house with a well and wood heat... Come on, lottery! :Þ

Winter Storm: Iola
I had today off, so I was affected only positively by the 7 inches of snow I received from Winter Storm Iola.

| Wooden chair and icemelt bucket. |
| I shoveled in anticipation of the plowing to come. The snow was light, so it took less than ten minutes. |
Redeemed - Barnes & Noble
On Tuesday I got the following items with the $25 gift card Dad & Ma gave me for Christmas:

- The latest issue of Art New England (art).
- The novel "Dies the Fire" by S. M. Stirling (it tells what happened to the people in the present, 'concurrent' with his 'Nantucket' series).

Gardner Ale House
I hung out with my old roommate Jay at the Gardner Ale House tonight. I had 5 beers: 3 house Winter Lagers, a BBC Steel ESB, and a final Winter Lager. The Mustang Burger I had for supper was amazing. It was a bacon cheeseburger with fried onions and barbecue sauce, plus awesome fries.
There was a live duo playing covers off & on too.
They weren't bad, though the singer's voice was higher than I would have liked:

We stayed at the bar 'til 11 or so, then hung out at Jay's cool new loft-style apartment for an hour, before I took off into the cold January night. We may watch the Superbowl at his place with some of the guys in a few weeks too!

Folksy Fitness
I've decided to pass on basic fitness and nutrition knowledge that I've come across (and that has worked for me) over the years. This endeavor is primarily a mix of common sense and overlooked/little-known information.
I set up a Twitter account and a Tumblr page, both called "Folksy Fitness" in order to pass on this information to anyone who might benefit. The Twitter page is for short bits of info and tips, and the Tumblr page is for healthy recipes that have become part of my enjoyable eating habits.
